The main function of the thyroid gland is to form the thyroid hormones T4 and T3. They are necessary to regulate various metabolic processes in the body. Iodine is essential for the formation of thyroid hormones. The thyroxine T4 is composed of four molecules of iodine and one molecule of the amino acid tyrosine. Iodine deficiency can cause changes in the thyroid gland, which can lead to impaired metabolism and immunity. Iodine deficiency increases the risk of free radicals in the thyroid gland. Pollution can aggravate iodine deficiency. Chris Kresser, who works with integrative medicine in the United States and has written a lot about hypothyreosis, says that 80% of his hypothyreosis patients have an iodine deficiency. Dr David Brownstein says that after having examined over 500 patients he found 94.7% of them to have an iodine deficiency. We recommend you also take selenium if you take iodine supplements.
Iodine contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function. Moreover, iodine contributes to normal cognitive function, normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal functioning of the nervous system. Iodine also contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and the normal growth of children
Iosol Iodine is a patented form of water-soluble iodine which, unlike potassium iodide, doesn't easily dissolve in water, won't put the thyroid gland at the same risk of poisoning or irritation. Potassium iodide can overload the thyroid gland if it's taken in high doses. Hashimoto's disease (or Hashimoto's thyroiditis), which affects the thyroid gland and usually leads to hypothyreosis, was discovered among Japanese people who ate large amounts of kelp, which contains potassium iodide. To manufacture Iosol Iodine, iodine is extracted from kelp to get pure crystalline iodine, which isn't potassium iodide. The other form of iodine in Iosol Iodine is iodine taken from mountains in the United States, that also dissolves easily in water. Iosol Iodine is probably one of the safest iodine supplements on the market. Iosol iodine has a concentration of about 4% in a 96% vegetable glycerine solution, while Lugol iodine varies from 1-15% concentration of potassium iodide, which means a higher risk of poisoning. Note that you should never overdose iodine, and if you have hyperthyreosis (an overactive thyroid gland), you should check your iodine status before taking Iosol Iodine.
|Amount per serving||% of DRI|
DRI = Daily Reference Intake
Glycerine (vegetarian), iodine derived from kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera), iodine derived from rocks, purified water.
Mix 1 drop of iodine in 0,6 dl of water. Stir and take 3 teaspoons of the solution (459 µg of iodine) daily. Always discard the remaining solution. (For approx. 100 % of DRI, take 1 teaspoon (153 µg of iodine) of the blend.) One drop of iosol iodine contains 1,83 mg (1830 µg) which is an excess of iodine. It is therefore important to mix iodine iodine according to the instructions.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose. Should be stored out of the reach of young children. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. It is important with at varied and balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. Store in dry and dark place. Do not expose food supplements to direct sunlight, heat or humidity. Keep bottle tightly closed. Note that you should never overdose iodine, and if you have hyperthyreosis (an overactive thyroid gland), you should check your iodine status before taking Iosol Iodine. Manufactured in the U.S.
